Ah, the quintessential red telephone booth. Although ones by Parliament and in Covent Garden are gorgeous, they will often be crowded--you could be gearing up for a long wait, and then, your photo will have tons of people in the background. Not to mention a line (queue! as the Brits say) of folks will be waiting their turn, so you won't have a chance to check angles and such. That's why, whenever I have visiting friends looking for that perfect telephone booth shot, I take them here.
This phone booth is in the middle of a very nice street in Belgravia. I never see anyone there, so you'll have lots of privacy--and afterwards, you can check out some lovely places for drinks and food on the same street.
To find it, I recommend you put this address in Google Maps (or whatever other GPS system you use): 19 Motcomb St, London SW1X 8LB, United Kingdom.
This is the address of Pantechnicon, which is almost directly across the street. Pantechnicon is a Nordic-Japanese fusion establishment featuring several different places to sip coffee (or cocktails!) and grab a bite. I love their rooftop, but it's quite expensive.
Alternately, you could check out the EL&N Belgravia branch. EL&N is often tagged as "The Most Instagrammable Cafe in the World," for good reason--it's filled to the brim with pink flowers, gorgeous cakes, and stylish lattes. It's pricy (and a bit overrated in my opinion) but still worth a visit. Its address is 25G Lowndes St, London SW1X 9JF, United Kingdom.
Have any other phone booths in mind that are great for snaps? Leave a comment!
(When my friend and I were getting these shots, a delivery truck had stopped right by us, otherwise the framing would've been a bit nicer!)
