I was once booking a flight from Portland, Maine to Charlotte, North Carolina using Google Flights, and mistakenly booked a flight leaving from Boston (about 100 miles away). From Google Flights, I was redirected to the American Airlines site, and was clicking through and entering information so quickly that I failed to see that I had selected the Boston flight (in my experience, "nearby" airports show up in the Google Flights search results by default). I didn't notice this had happened until mere hours until the flight, so I had to rebook at the very last minute (I made it, thankfully--see pic below!). I'm currently looking to book a flight from Tulsa, Oklahoma to Portland, and flights to Boston keep showing up! Although you can turn off the "nearby airports" selection on American Airlines, I can't see where Google Flights allows you to do this. Anyone know what to do? And has anyone had any similar stories?
