I'm all about supporting Palestinian culture, especially these days. That's why I recommend for you to try Qanoon, founded by Palestinian chef Tarek Daka in honor of his mother Rasmyee and her love of cooking. The atmosphere is laidback and cozy, with a mural depicting Palestinian women and bright green vines creeping across the ceiling; its dim lighting and sense of intimacy make it a great date locale. It's pricy relative to the average American restaurant experience (expect to spend over $100 for two people, without cocktails), but actually quite reasonable for its location. We were able to walk right in as we arrived just after 5 (when it opens for dinner), but we noticed the reservation system was quite full. The space is small, too, so I would advise you make a booking.
We ordered hummus, cauliflower fritters, the mujaddara croquette, and musakhan (as well as fresh mint tea). My favorite was the fritters!
The address is 180 9th Avenue, NYC, NY, 10011. I've linked their website for more information. Happy eating!
