Circe's Rooftop Bar in Waterloo has been making the rounds on social media. Its heavy online presence, coupled with a free cocktail voucher, had me there ASAP. First off, I realized that Circe's has taken the spot of the famous Bar Elba--it's essentially just a rebrand. (Not like I have anything against Bar Elba--I was just expecting something novel.) The views are great, especially on the uppermost terrace, which was quite peaceful--it was a much more relaxed atmosphere than the main area, which was heavier on the music. I can't speak so much to the quality of the drinks, as I used my voucher for a mocktail (which was not good), but I checked out the menu and was pleased to see lots of 2-4-1 offers and relatively solid prices (like 10 pounds for a cocktail--this is good for London). As for the service, it was a mixed bag. The hosts couldn't have been nicer, but I was not impressed by the bartending staff.
Lastly, overall vibes--as with Bar Elba, Circe's is a casual place. Do not show up decked out in Van Cleef and heels (especially because there is a long hike to get to the top--no elevators). If you're looking for a more sophisticated ambience, check out the Rooftop at the Trafalgar St. James or Wagtail, but if you're out to unwind in your comfy clothes after a long week at work--this just might be the place.
